History

When our family started reading and discussing one chapter of the Bible together each day, it revolutionized our spiritual life. Routinely digging into God's word was an epiphany. We learned about God, learned about ourselves, and learned how to walk in God's way.

We can't believe we once lived without reading the Bible each day. God wants us to abide in His word, and it's something we should all do. If you aren't routinely in God's word, why not start now? You'll gain peace and understanding, your faith will grow, and your eyes will be fixed on our awesome God, His amazing Son, and the incredible helper He gives us, the Holy Spirit.

We wondered how we could encourage others to read the Bible daily, and then the Holy Spirit gave us an idea: Why not make an app that would make it easy for people to dip their toes in the living water?

So Michael (who has some computer programming experience) started working on an Android app. He carefully read through the entire Bible and selected passages of no more than three or so verses that would inform, encourage and exhort. The goal was to collect passages that, if read together, would provide an excellent thumbnail sketch of God's word and, if read separately, would each provide an important and accessible message.

The result: Palm Branch is a curated collection of nearly 2,000 Bible passages from Genesis to Revelation. There are enough passages in Palm Branch to read five a day for one year...or one a day for five years.

But why read just one passage (or five) a day? Why not read a whole chapter? You can, with Palm Branch. Just click a button, and the app will take you to Bible.com, where you can read the passage in context—you get the entire chapter in just one click.

While in the app, you can pick your favorite passages, select passages you want to memorize, add notes to a passage, and share passages with others (via email, text, Facebook, and Twitter).

You can customize the look of your app with eight themes, each with a light and dark mode!

The best part? The app is 100 percent free and ad free. No in-app purchases. Just a free app designed to share God's word with as many people as possible and to encourage them to abide in it each and every day. Why?
